ROCK, ROCK & ROLL, and Pop Music

Note: Given the nature of the music industry and the pop music sub-culture none of these sites can be presumed to be kid friendly or age appropriate for those under 18.

Internet Underground Music Archive (IUMA)(pronounced I-yoo-MAH) This group claims to predate the Web --old, old, old. They say "Before the Web made the cover of Popular Mechanics, a few savvy undergraduates from the University of California, Santa Cruz, and volunteers from the burgeoning Santa Cruz geek community, created the Internet Underground Music Archive. Their mission was superbly simple, to create the net's first free high-fidelity music archive. These visionaries approached this new level playing field for musicians as a technical adventure. During secret gatherings in these youth's bedrooms, IUMA 1.0 was developed, a site that grew to represent more than 800 unsigned, independent bands on-line. IUMA 1.0 enabled music lovers to connect with artists, buy CDs and tapes directly from artists and to share comments about bands with the public. Like kids on a free hot dog picnic, national and international media began eating up the IUMA darlings, writing rave reviews in the press. Since then, IUMA has expanded its role while continuing to bring more independent musicians on-line. Now offering unique Internet consulting to the music industry, IUMA continues to bring the finest music content direct to you. In IUMA 2.0 you will find a number of new and improved features, plus plenty of swank graphics." Their offerings include on-line artists (over 500), multimedia projects, sound and audio clips, links to a number of independent labels (from 3 Foot Records, Alternet Sonic Reality and Blue Goat to Sin Club, Warrior, and Zographia), and much more.

The original focus of RockOnTV was live rock music, but we have expanded the listings to include any and all music-related shows that we think may be of interest. No other resource comes close. Please be advised that the term, Rock, is used VERY loosely. This site contains listings that cover every single musical genre. We do not discriminate."
